Sweet Dreams alternative: Libre glucose apps for iPhone compared
Sweet Dreams, Gluroo and Dulce all read the same LibreLinkUp data and show it on the Lock Screen, widgets or Apple Watch, so you can switch between them without touching your sensor. Dulce is the pick if you want the app in Spanish, German, French or Italian, a free carbs and insulin logbook and free followers; Sweet Dreams covers more sensor models and pumps. Switching to Dulce takes a minute with the same LibreLinkUp login.

If you wear a FreeStyle Libre and an iPhone, you have more options than Abbott's own apps for seeing your glucose at a glance. Sweet Dreams, Gluroo and Dulce all read the same LibreLinkUp data and put it on your Lock Screen, widgets or Apple Watch, but they are built for different people. This guide compares them honestly, using what each one lists on its App Store page today, and explains how to switch without touching your sensor.
Where the data comes from
All of these apps start from the same place. Your sensor sends readings to the Libre app on your iPhone (FreeStyle LibreLink or FreeStyle Libre 3), that app uploads them to Abbott, and Abbott shares them with LibreLinkUp, the account meant for followers. A third-party app signs in to LibreLinkUp and shows those readings in more places. That's why switching between these apps never requires changing anything on the sensor phone.

Where each one is strongest
Sweet Dreams supports far more sensors than anyone else here: Dexcom, Medtronic pumps through CareLink, Eversense, Nightscout and more. Its listing also says its critical alerts can sound when the iPhone is on silent, and it shows readings on CarPlay. If you use a Medtronic pump or several kinds of sensors in one family, it's the stronger choice today.
Gluroo is built around logging and talking to your family: food, insulin and notes in a shared timeline, with your glucose alongside. If your household coordinates care in one chat, that's its focus.
Dulce is built for people with a FreeStyle Libre who want their number visible without opening an app, in their own language. The whole app is in Spanish, English, German, French and Italian, not just English. The widgets, the logbook for carbs and insulin, and Trends (time in range, average glucose and GMI) are free. Family members follow you for free, and Pro adds the Lock Screen Live Activity, Dynamic Island, the Apple Watch app and alerts checked every minute. With iOS 26 the Live Activity also shows on your car's CarPlay screen. See the Lock Screen guide and the Apple Watch guide. Wear a Dexcom? See Dexcom with Dulce.
LibreLinkUp itself is free and enough if a family member only needs notifications. It doesn't put the number on the Lock Screen, in widgets or on the watch.
How to switch to Dulce in a minute
If you already use Sweet Dreams, Gluroo or any app that reads LibreLinkUp, you already have everything Dulce needs.
Install Dulce
Download Dulce from the App Store on the iPhone where you want to see the readings.
Sign in with the same LibreLinkUp account
Use the LibreLinkUp email and password your current app uses. Nothing changes on the phone that reads the sensor.
Set your alerts and units
Choose mg/dL or mmol/L and your low and high limits. Check the alerts guide so you hear a low at night.
Add your widgets and watch
Add the widgets from your Home Screen and, with Pro, turn on the Live Activity and the Apple Watch app.
If you ever want to go back, your LibreLinkUp account is untouched, so your previous app keeps working with it.
Which one should you pick?
- You wear a FreeStyle Libre and want it on your Lock Screen and watch, in Spanish, German, French or Italian: Dulce.
- You want a free logbook next to your glucose and a family that follows for free: Dulce.
- You use a Medtronic pump, or need alarms that ring on silent: Sweet Dreams.
- Your family mostly needs a shared log and chat: Gluroo.
Whatever you choose, keep your sensor app's own alarms on. None of these apps is a medical device or replaces your sensor's alarms.
